The Smallest House in Great Britain
Continuing our exploration of the Tiny House Movement, we present to you the smallest house in all of Great Britain!
Also known as the Quay House, this adorable historic residence is now a tourist attraction on the quay in Conwy, Wales. With a whopping 10 sq. feet, the Quay House was used as a residence from the 16th century until 1900 when it was finally converted into a tourist attraction.
During 1900 the tenant was a 6-foot-3-inch fisherman named Robert Jones (if you can imagine that). Apparently the council finally declared the house unfit for human habitation because Mr. Jones was unable to even stand up straight in either of the two floors. The house is still owned by his descendants.
Today a Welsh woman in traditional clothing stands outside the house when it is open for visitors to explain the history of the house. Visitors are unable to go upstairs due to structural instability, but can view it from the outside using a step ladder.
